I’m seeing this trending a lot lately and I’m into it! So, here are my 3 favorite quick and easy ways on how to wear a bandana or scarf as a top – even in the fall!
1. Tie in the back
Pro Tip: Throw on a leather/denim jacket for a fall style look (but according to this weekend’s weather forecast, you can skip the jacket for now). You can also layer over a plain t-shirt with jeans in the fall and over a bikini with jean shorts in the summer.
2. Tie in the front
Pro Tip: This looks best with high rise pants since it shows a little more skin. It also looks great as a bikini top in the summer, or with a jacket for a cute “going-out” look in the fall.
3. Tie around your neck and lower back.
Pro Tip: If the scarf isn’t big enough to tie around your lower back, you can use a small safety pin and only tie it around your neck.
One last bonus one…
4. Wear the bandana/scarf as a mask (or as an actual bandana/scarf)
This is very trendy right now and makes for a cute fall fashion look!
Pro Tip: This is a great way to dress up a plain t-shirt or tank top. Plus, a scarf that can double as a mask is pretty easy and convenient right now.
Best places to buy affordable bandanas or scarves:
- Aldo Shoes – favs: “Lineolaris” or “Larelidda” ($22) and “Mullet” ($25). You may need to fold style “Mullet” into a smaller square before wearing as a shirt.
- Aritzia – favs: all the Auxiliary scarves ($48) – they’re a little pricier, but great material and warmer for fall. You may need to fold these styles into a smaller square before wearing as a shirt.
- Garage Clothing – bandana-style shirts that tie in the back and come with removeable straps (I also tie them in the front). The purple tie dye style shown above is the “Piper Bandana Cami” ($25).
- SHEIN – so many great bandana-style tops and printed scarves for under $10. They also have bandanas already made into masks.
- Urban Outfitters – favs: “Paisley Bandana” ($14), “Flutter Printed Bandana” ($24) and “Floral Lightweight Gaiter” ($24). They also have bandanas already made into masks.
- Le Trunk Shop (Mont Royal in Mtl) – great styles in a basket towards the back of the store for under $20. The mustard yellow style shown above is from here.
